Strategic Consulting

Before you build, get the plan right

Product strategy, technical discovery, and specification documents for companies that need more than a contractor. We help leadership teams scope projects, respond to RFPs, and produce the requirements documents that make implementation predictable.

Who this is for

Strategic consulting for teams making consequential technical decisions

Founders & product leaders

Evaluating whether to build, who need MVP scoping and technical feasibility before committing capital.

Operations & IT leaders

Drafting RFPs for vendor selection, who need professionally structured requirements to get comparable bids.

Teams with existing applications

Who need functional specifications to hand to internal devs or external agencies without miscommunication.

Deliverables

Documents you own, specifications you can build from

Six deliverable types that cover the full span from early-stage feasibility through detailed functional specification.

Product Requirements Documents (PRDs)

A PRD translates a business idea into a structured specification that any competent development team can estimate, price, and build against.

  • User stories and feature priorities
  • Technical constraints and acceptance criteria
  • Success metrics and KPIs
  • Vendor-neutral format — take it to any team
Typically 2–4 weeks

Functional Specification Documents (FSDs)

Where a PRD answers "what should this product do and why," an FSD answers "how exactly does each screen, workflow, and data interaction behave."

  • Screen-level behavior and validation rules
  • Edge cases and error states
  • Integration specifications
  • Data flow and state transitions
Typically 3–6 weeks

RFP Analysis & Response Strategy

For companies being handed an RFP and unsure how to respond, or companies drafting one and unsure what to ask for.

  • Requirements analysis and gap identification
  • Flagging unrealistic expectations or scope risks
  • Response structuring and narrative strategy
  • Ghost-writing of technical sections
Typically 1–3 weeks

Technical Discovery & Scoping

A structured engagement where we interview stakeholders, audit existing systems, and produce a decision-ready scoping document.

  • Stakeholder interviews and requirements mapping
  • Existing-system audit
  • Build-or-buy recommendation
  • Architecture outline and realistic budget range
2–4 week engagement

Product Strategy & Advisory

Ongoing advisory for founders and product leaders who need the benefit of someone who has shipped across dozens of verticals — without hiring a full-time product leader.

  • Feature prioritization and roadmap development
  • Competitive positioning
  • Go-to-market technical planning
  • Monthly or milestone-based cadence
Ongoing or milestone-based

Architecture & Feasibility Review

Before you commit to a stack, a vendor, or a build approach, get an independent review from a consultant with no stake in selling you one solution over another.

  • Written technical assessment
  • Recommendations with tradeoff analysis
  • Risk identification
  • Alternative approaches considered
Typically 1–2 weeks
Why this matters

Catch problems on paper, not in production

Most companies skip the planning phase and pay for it in rework, scope creep, and shipped products that do not match what stakeholders actually wanted. The consulting deliverables we produce exist to catch those problems on paper, where they cost thousands — not in production, where they cost hundreds of thousands.

You own every document we create. Nothing is proprietary. You can take our specifications to any vendor in the world.

FAQs

Consulting FAQs

Do you deliver implementation, or only planning?
Both. We are happy to produce strategy documents you take elsewhere, and we are equally happy to implement what we scope. There is no lock-in either way — the documents we produce are yours to use with any vendor.
What if we already have a developer or agency?
Great. Our specifications make their job easier and their bids more accurate. Many of our engagements exist specifically to give an existing implementation partner a clearer brief so they can work more efficiently.
Who owns the documents you produce?
You do, completely. Nothing we deliver is proprietary to us, and there are no licensing clauses. You can take every document to any vendor in the world.
How is this different from a business consultant?
Technical depth. We write specifications a developer can actually build from, not slide decks. Our deliverables are the inputs engineering teams need to ship, not the outputs of a strategy workshop.
How long does a typical PRD take?
Two to four weeks depending on complexity and stakeholder availability. FSDs typically run three to six weeks. Shorter engagements are possible when scope is well-defined and stakeholders are available on a compressed schedule.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes. We regularly work under mutual NDAs and are comfortable with enterprise procurement and vendor onboarding processes.
Do you work with enterprises?
Yes. We work with clients ranging from solo founders to multi-national manufacturers. Our engagement format adapts to the decision-making structure on your side.
Can we hire you for just a paid discovery call?
Yes. Structured paid discovery sessions are available when you need focused technical or product input without committing to a full engagement.
